Be sure to check out the GoodSamYouth mission trips that take place each summer. The applications and brochures are available in late January at the church and on the website on the Forms page.
Here are some additional recommended camps and mission organizations for kids looking for summer adventure.
Deerfoot Lodge
This is a boys' camp in the Adirondacks, with an exceptional record of discipling young men. It offers wilderness experience, outdoor skills, and a strong leadership training program. Several from our group have gone through their summer-long counselor training experience. Summer registration starts early in the new year, and sessions fill very quickly.
Spruce Lake
This is a Mennonite camp in the Poconos with a strong outdoor program for teens. Trips include backpacking, canoeing, and more.
Camp Hebron
A well-run Mennonite camp with a wide variety of special camps for teens, younger children, and families. Possibilities include guitar camp, riding cabins, art weeks, dance, moms-and-tots camps, and more. Several Good Samaritan youth and families have enjoyed participating in Hebron's programs.
Global Expeditions
For almost twenty years Teenmania has been taking youth on short term mission trips around the world. Young people we know who have been part of these trips have seen God at work in dramatic ways and have come home with a new understanding of the world's need and their own faith.
Adventures in Missions
Adventures in Missions has been introducing teens to missions for over fifteen years. A non-denominational organization, AIM partners with churches in the areas they serve and trains youth to be agents of reconciliation and outreach in poor communities around the world. Several of our teens have had very valuable experiences with AIM.
